Increasing in value due to innovative developments

Even though census reports are used to plan for the future, in some parts of Asia, such a systematic approach towards better planning and governance was practically absent.  Even though in Europe and some other progressive countries national census was undertaken periodically, not much has taken place in the gulf region.  Only in modern times have the national governments of the respective gulf countries found the real value and the need to conduct a national census.

If the census reports of earlier times are compared with the recent census report, it is seen that the number of households that had access to the modern amenities was few in number earlier.  Even when considering the minor ethnic differences in lifestyles among the various clans, the situation was almost the same.  The erstwhile Sheikh or King and his family were the only people that had access to the best amenities.

Once phenomenal revenues from oil started trickling in, the national government stepped in to take the lead in improving the living conditions of the people.  By distributing the wealth from oil, the common people had much purchasing power and thus the common people could own the amenities of their choice.  When land value increased, a house for sale had many takers in the prominent city centers and real estate management became a major business.  When the private realtors were given more freedom, they could take the burden from the government and could create living spaces that are the envy of national governments even in the advanced world.
